The Solomon Islands Giants, or Guadalcanal Giants, are cryptids that are said to inhabit the remote jungles of Papua New Guinea and more specifically the island of Guadalcanal. The indigenous people of the Solomon Islands have passed down stories about the Giants for generations with some even claiming that the Giants have mystical powers.

Description of the Solomon Islands Giants
The Solomon Islands Giants are described as very tall and muscular, reaching heights of over 10 feet (3 meters) or more. They are described as having darker skin with broad faces, noses, and mouths and are said to have long reddish, black, or brown hair with red eyeballs.
There are conflicting stories about whether the Giants are peaceful or dangerous with many saying that they are helpers and protectors while others see them as a threat to the local island communities.
It is believed that the giants use complex cave systems to move freely from one side of the island to the other which explains why they have remained hidden for so long.
Solomon Islands Giants Sightings & Encounters
There have been many stories of different sightings of the giants over the years. However, one story stands out among them all.
Kidnappings
It is said that a young girl by the name of Mango was kidnapped by the giants and it was believed that she had been killed. However, after being missing for 25 years she reappeared in a terrible state and was almost unrecognizable. It was found that she was pregnant and it was believed that she had been taken as a wife by one of the Giants. When she gave birth it was to a half-breed boy who was killed at the age of 5 by one of mangoes Brothers. It is believed that some of the men on the island know where her son was buried although no investigations have been done. Mango herself remained in an unstable mental state until she died.
While this is an exceptional story, there are many other stories of kidnappings that have been reported by the local people over the years.
Japenese Soldiers
Stories of the Solomon Islands Giants or not be limited to local people. They also said to be reports that the Japanese forces encountered the Giants in World War 2 when they were fighting on the Guadalcanal island between 1942 and 1945. It is believed that while Japanese and US forces were engaged in heavy fighting on the islands, the Japanese reported to have seen creatures that were around 10 to 15 ft tall. The soldiers alleged that these creatures would sometimes charge at the soldiers and bullets had little effect on them. The Japanese soldiers believe that the Giants were cannibalistic and they were very fearful of their attacks.
Are The Solomon Islands Giants Real?
There are many skeptics who dismiss the Solomon Islands Giants as myth and folklore. However, the sheer number of testimonies and eyewitness accounts from various credible witnesses give us reason to believe that there is some truth to the legends. However, there is little concrete information about these mysterious creatures and the Legends that surround them.
Why Have The Solomon Island Giants Not Been Found?
It seems strange that there is no more concrete evidence available to prove the existence of the Solomon Islands Giants, especially considering our modern advancements and how small the islands are. However, if you were to take a look at a map of the area you will notice that the interior of the larger islands is almost totally uninhabited. The islands are covered in thick jungles and very high mountains that are impenetrable. These jungles are some of the most isolated on the planet and, if there were communities of giant cryptids living unseen by the rest of the world, these isolated forests would be the perfect place for them!
